Managing AV for Construction and Fit-out projects
East Coast Audio Visual has been involved in its fair share of construction and fit-out projects and we’ve seen the good and the bad. We learnt what it takes to get AV properly integrated into such projects whether we’re in from the start or as the shipping boxes are being unpacked.
Whilst we’re sure this would never happen in your organisation, an understanding of how poorly such projects can progress may be useful.
Client and Project focus…
| At this stage the client is focussed on getting internal and external approvals for their project.There are rarely AV issues for gaining approval, so unless there is a well recognised and articulated need, it may be forgotten (no business owner), too hard for architect/ engineer, or can seem a distraction. | Once again the client is focussed on getting the CC so construction can begin. AV doesn’t rate highly in this.Further costs are firming up so some hard budgetary truths may need to be confronted. | Here it is the prime contractor who may find AV a distraction as they strive to get to the Certificate of Occupancy.Meanwhile, the client, with more time on their hands, may finally get around to thinking about AV. | Existing AV equipment will need to be uninstalled and re-installed without delay and that means AV planning.Meantime, while client staffare unpacking for a day or two, it won’t be long before they are looking to use the AV gear in their new group facilities. |

OR We can go further and provide indicative or detailed assessments of AV equipment and AV contractor labour required and costs for determining AV budget, i.e. a proper consulting approach. |
Our AV consultants can provide input now which will save money later. We can provide input to joinery & electrical design as well as advice on wall/ ceiling reinforcement.Further we can provide an AV architecture which can be implemented progressively as funds become available, but still meets essential needs on Day 1. | Not a problem, our AV installationprocess is engineered so that our consultants can happily work with and around the main contractor, and our AV integrators are used to working with and around other trades.Time and money can be saved here if cables go in before cladding goes on walls or ceilings.
